Capitals and Capitols at Library (FH)

This program will be presented in-person and virtually on Zoom. Join us in-person in the Auditorium at the FCL Farmington Hills location at 32737 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, MI, 48334. Registration is required to receive the Zoom meeting link.

Registration Preferred

Travel back in time to the early days of statehood to learn about the history of Michigan’s two capital cities (Detroit and Lansing) and the three capitol buildings we’ve used since the territorial period. Join Michigan State Capitol historian and curator Valerie Marvin to learn about the politics behind moving the capital and the process and challenges of constructing each of our three buildings, as told by the men and women who participated in these projects.
