DSO Winds Extraordinaire
January 5th, 2025- 2:00pm
The Hawk Mainstage
Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.

CSD pianist Pauline Martin and her superb Detroit Symphony Orchestra colleagues – flutist Amanda Blaikie, oboist Alex Kinmonth, clarinetist Ralph Skiano, hornist Scott Strong and bassoonist Conrad Cornelison – are setting the tone for a vibrant New Year. Witness their artistry in an intimate program featuring Beethoven’s ebullient Quintet for Piano and Winds, the lyrical Bassoon Sonata by Saint-Saëns, Fantasie for Flute and Piano by Fauré, Taffanel’s delightful Woodwind Quintet and the ethereal “Cloudbreak” for 2 Horns and Fixed Media by James Naigus, with guest DSO hornist Kristi Crago.

Not surprisingly, the Hawk’s special partnership with CSD has seen attendance more than double since CSD’s first season at the Hawk in 2021, opening with the renowned Ehnes Quartet. Delivering “compelling, inspiring and stunning” performances, artistic director Pauline Martin and her outstanding colleagues epitomize the essence of chamber music.

We invite you to witness intimate musical dialog firsthand, with an added opportunity to join the artists for CSD’s hallmark Just Between Us talkback following each concert.

This concert is presented in collaboration with Chamber Soloists of Detroit and the City of Farmington Hills. To learn more about CSD, visit chambersoloistsdetroit.org.
