Crafted in Kindness: Make One, Give One Challenge at The Hawk

What is the CRAFTED IN KINDNESS: MAKE ONE, GIVE ONE CHALLENGE?
-We’re challenging everyone to help us provide handmade hats and mittens to people that may need help staying warm for the upcoming cold season. All handmade hats and mittens will be donated to individuals in need. We know that making as a way to help others is gift enough, but we will also award various prizes throughout the challenge, simply for participating.
-Don’t know how to make hats and mittens? That’s ok! We’ll have various sessions for a nominal fee to help you learn along the way.
-Do I have to take a workshop with you to participate in the challenge? Absolutely not! If you want to make sets from the comfort of your own home, we’re more than happy to accept your donations.
-Can I donate more than one set? You don’t have to, but we welcome all the handmade donations you wish to make.
-What are the dates of the challenge? We’ll be launching the challenge on November 23. Donations are accepted between November 23 and December 29.
-Where are you donating the hat and mitten sets? Sets will be donated to Farmington Hills Department of Special Services, Senior Division. The Senior Division has over 500 local seniors receiving support through their annual Adopt-a-Senior Program. Hats and Mittens will be added to their deliveries.
Challenge Prizes
Prizes awarded in multiple ways. Awarded to anyone that participates in the drop-in workshops, longer workshops, or donates items made in the space or at home. Prizes must be claimed in person. Picture and recognition on social media and makerspace newsletter/blog

Receives one time – not each time they participate/donate
Can be awarded the first time they complete a donated hat/mitten

-Weekly Prizes
Anyone that has donated/participated to date is entered to win one weekly drawing prize.
Includes all participants up until the drawing date, not just those participating the week of the drawing.

Drawings on Nov 30 and December 7, 14, 21, Jan 2

Crafted in Kindness: Hat & Mitten Sets
Discover how you can make a difference this season with our Crafted in Kindness: Make One, Give One Challenge. During this workshop, you’ll learn about The Hawk Makerspace’s sewing machines and be guided in making two hat and mitten sets – one for you to keep and one to donate to a person needing help staying warm this season. You can craft for a cause and keep hearts warm, one stitch at a time!
All materials are included.
These workshops will run no matter what!
Pre-registration is not required, but spaces are limited so you may register if you wish to secure your spot. Anyone participating in this challenge will be entered to win prizes.
