Box 2203\, Farmington Hills\, MI 48334\, OR EMAIL application to Anne at jalsebesta@att.net. \nTitle/Topic: The Moment I Realized I Belonged – My Definition of Community \nLength of Speech: At least 4 minutes\, but no longer than 5 minutes. \nQualifications: The contest is open to students who: (i) live in (or attend school in) Farmington or Farmington Hills; (ii) are under the age of 19 by October 1\, 2026; (iii) are not currently enrolled in college-level courses; (iv) have not yet completed high school; and (v) have been educated in the U.S.\, Canada or Caribbean.  There is no minimum age.  A copy of the contestant’s birth certificate must be submitted along with their application. \nPrizes: Medallions\, as well as monetary prizes of $500\, $350\, and $200 will be awarded to the 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place winners\, respectively.  A Certificate of Participation will be given to all contestants. \nNext-Level Competition: The 1st and 2nd place winners will advance to the next-level Zone contest (via Zoom) for a chance to win a plaque\, and possibly advance further to the District\, Regional and World levels of competition.  The overall potential college tuition scholarship could be $22\,500.00. \nContestants and family members or guests are welcome to attend the contest.  A light breakfast will be provided. \nFor additional information\, please contact Anne Sebesta\, Oratorical Chairperson at jalsebesta@att.net\, or text her at 248-302-6366.

DESCRIPTION:To ensure an optimal student-instructor ratio\, registration fees are due Wednesday\, March 11\, one week prior to the class\, and are non-refundable. To register\, or for more information\, contact FDevents@FHgov.com. \nThe Farmington Hills Fire Department and the City of Farmington Hills Emergency Preparedness Commission are offering an American Heart Association Heartsaver® class to train members of the public in CPR\, AED and Stop the Bleed tourniquet skills on Wednesday\, March 18. The course is designed for everyone\, including people with little to no medical training. \nThe class\, open to individuals ages 12 and up\, will be held from 5:30-10 p.m. on Wednesday\, March 18 at Fire Station #4 located at 28711 Drake Road. Children under 18-years-old must register with a parent or guardian. Registration fees are $10 for Farmington Hills and Farmington residents\, and $30 for non-residents. An additional $20 fee\, regardless of residency\, is required for the American Heart Association Certificate of Training\, which is valid for two years and can be printed or accessed online. Participants must be physically capable of kneeling on the floor and performing continuous chest compressions using their arms and hands.
