Registration closes March 1\, 2026 at 1:30pm. \nJoin the Library for a discussion of the 2026 Academy Awards with Rotten Tomatoes–approved film critic Tom Santilli! Tom will explore the history of the Oscars\, explain the award categories\, and discuss why certain films received nominations. Attendees will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite movies of the year. There will even be a free raffle with giveaways! \nWhether you have seen the nominated films or are simply interested in movies\, this is a great program for film lovers of all ages. \nTom Santilli is the executive producer and film critic for Movie Show Plus\, the longest-running movie show in Metro Detroit. He is a former president of the Detroit Film Critics Society and a current member of the Critics Choice Association and the Hollywood Creative Alliance. He has previously served as a featured film critic on WXYZ (ABC–Detroit) and FOX 2 Detroit\, and as a national film critic for AXS.com. \nPlease note: Giveaways will be distributed through a free raffle. You will receive an email/text confirmation if properly registered. Payment is due at the time of the reservation to guarantee your seat. You may reserve & make payment online. \n*WHAT TO BRING: You are welcome to bring in light snacks and drinks including Beer and Wine to enjoy. You must provide your OWN cups\, plates and utensils for food. **ABSOLUTELY NO HARD ALCOHOL ALLOWED\, NO EXCEPTIONS** You must be at least 21 years of age with proper identification to consume alcohol in the studio. \n*CLASS TIME: Painting begins PROMPTLY at class time! Please arrive 30 minutes prior to class time to park\, check-in\, unwind & get smocked! If you are late to the class you may not be allowed to paint and your payment will be forfeited. \n*SEATING REQUESTS:\nIf you’re coming with others\, but making reservations separately\, give us your group’s name in the Special Request box.
