SUMMARY:Half Day Silent Retreat with Meditate Detroit
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special New Year’s meditation to honor the end of one year and welcome the next with intention and peace.\nThis practice will guide us through reflecting on the year past\, cultivating gratitude\, and setting intentions for the year ahead. \n\nTickets: $70.00 \nImmerse yourself in a 5 hour session of noble silence while practicing meditation\, mindful movement\, walking meditation and self-reflection. Allowing yourself to be silent and release the act of communication and your Saturday responsibilities for a short time can allow you to turn your attention inward giving you a sense of rest and reset. \nWhat to expect- \nAlthough participants will be in noble silence most of the session\, meditation teacher Amy Tarrant\, founder of Meditate Detroit\, will guide you through meditations\, mindful movement\, walking meditation\, and self-reflection. She will also do some readings from well-known meditation teachers and authors like Thich Nhat Hanh\, Kristin Neff\, Jon Kabat-Zinn\, Jack Kornfield and more. Some of the topics will include\, Loving Kindness\, Gratitude\, and Interbeing.\n \nThe basic schedule for the morning will be- \nWelcome/Introductions and Guidelines \nNoble Silence will begin \n~ The morning will flow between meditations\, mindful movement\, walking meditation and teachings of well known mindfulness leaders. ~ \nTime to Journal \nDissolve the Noble Silence \nUnpack the experience\, questions\, comments \nWho should attend this class? \nAnyone who has any experience with meditation or yoga. If you have never done meditation or are unsure about meditation\, I recommend you try a few shorter sessions before you try a 5 hour session. \nPlease give yourself plenty of time to arrive and get settled. We will start promptly at 9:00am. Doors will open at 8:30am. Comfort is important. Dress in layers the temp in the room may vary. We may have the opportunity to practice outside in the beautiful garden if weather permits. You may want to bring a blanket\, yoga mat\, water bottle with a lid that seals\, meditation cushion\, journal\, and pen. \nNobel Silence– Is a lapse of time when you allow yourself and others not to talk. To really experience the now.” ~ A.T. \n\nYour Guide: \nAmy Tarrant founded Meditate Detroit in 2010 with a mission to coach children\, teens\, adults\, families\, educators and business people on their orwn mindfulness adventures\, resulting in community of mindful thinkers.  Mediate Detroit seeks to cultivate a community that is sustainable in happiness\, peacefulness\, health and wellness… One breath at a time.  Amy has received training from globally recognized mindfulness leaders and is a level one Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher through Brown University’s School of Public Health. \nMBSR is an effective\, scientifically researched method for reducing physical and psychological suffering while building resilience\, balance and peace of mind.
